Yes, VAT is charged when you import goods into the UAE. If you’re VAT registered, you’ll need to pay VAT on your imports on a reverse charge basis, along with any customs duties. On the flip side, exporting goods and services outside the GCC and for international transport is zero-rated for VAT. Just make sure to report these exports in your tax returns, but you wonÂ’t have to apply VAT.
